Movie Evaluation

The movie, I think, was a double-edged sword in unraveling Fahrenheit 451; there were differences that I believed were entirely unnecessary (Mildred to Linda? No Mechanical Hound or Faber?), but the actors and actresses that were present, as well as the props, served their purpose well.

What was strengthened in the movie more than the book, I think, was the Montag/Beatty, Montag/Clarisse, and Montag/Linda relationships. Because there were not as many characters shown in the movie, the film was able to concentrate on prime characters that affected Montag's decisions in becoming a book himself, instead of burning thousands upon thousands of books. Beatty, Clarisse, and Linda show three primary aspects of Montag: while Clarisse may represent his enlightenment towards the positive influence of books, Linda may show his brainwashed condition beforehand, while Beatty may be the struggle in between.
